The C-Fund Committee of Bamberg County, Bamberg County employees and officials, along with Alliance Engineers recently hosted a public meeting on Wednesday, August 10th, concerning the updates to be made to Dally Road in Denmark. The meeting was held at the Dane Theatre and was said to be very informative by the many attendees.

The funds allocated to the improvements to Dally Road will come from the C-Fund Program. Money from this fund, “are derived from 2.66 cents per gallon of the state gasoline tax.” Members of the C-Fund Committee, who were appointed by Bamberg County’s Legislative Delegation, approved the project earlier in the quarter, however the public meeting was needed to gain right-of-way access to the properties along Dally Road.

At the meeting, Bamberg County C-Fund Committee Chairman Harold Johnson, Bamberg County Administrator Joey R. Preston and engineers with Alliance Engineering focused on explaining the purpose of the project, the needs of the project and answering questions citizens had with concerns.

After the well-attended meeting, citizens were given the opportunity to speak with engineers about the amount of right-of-way needed from each property. Citizens were also given the opportunity to give the “go ahead” and sign over any right-of-way access needed.

“We are pleased with the C-Fund Committee’s decision to move forward with the repairs on Dally Road and we are proud to know,” stated Bamberg County Councilman Joe Guess. Dally Road is located in Bamberg County Councilman Guess’s district. “Even before I was elected as a council member, I have known of the issues with Dally Road. We are moving forward with this project and we are happy to see the C-Fund Committee making proactive decisions to better the future of Bamberg County citizens.”

Bamberg County Councilman Trent Kinard, was also present at the meeting, explained Bamberg County cannot financially afford to repair the road issues throughout the County and he, as well as other council members are, “so thankful the C-Fund Committee saw and understood the importance of the Dally Road project to the citizens that reside there. The committee members do a great job addressing the County’s road issues with the allocated funds.”
